Founders Jason Birkenstock (CEO) and Samantha Bushnell (COO) grew up as cousins in a large South African family with several family businesses in the greater Sacramento area. Being active in these businesses from a young age instilled a strong work ethic, principled approach, and sharp entrepreneurial acumen.
Jason’s early professional path led straight to real estate. He became a licensed real estate attorney and broker, experienced in various sectors of the California rental market from distressed multifamily properties to new development and luxury single-family homes. Samantha followed her passion for client-centered service as a registered dental hygienist and later as the founder of a successful retail business.
Throughout their early professional lives, Jason and Samantha remained in regular contact and jointly invested in several properties in their hometown. They quickly realized there was a lack of effective and competent management companies that would not prioritize their own profits at the expense of the property owners.
